After successfully piloting the program in Palm Beach County, Florida for the last academic year, please see below, the JFR is pleased to announce that the program is available for educators. On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Kimberly Coombs (Lerner Fellow 2022) and Stanlee Stahl presented JFR’s online program at a Symposium for Social Studies Teachers in Palm Beach County, FL. We presented at five sessions. We thank Palm Beach County for inviting the JFR to present at their symposium. It was great to see so many Alfred Lerner Fellows.

2026 Advanced Seminar

2027 ADVANCED SEMINAR

The Advanced Seminar is planned for January 17-18, 2027, and will be held at the Hilton Newark Airport. We are in the process of finalizing the program. The focus of the 2027 Advanced Seminar is the impact of AI on Holocaust education and research and Chapter 9 of How Was it Possible? A Holocaust Reader by Peter Hayes, “Afterwards. The following scholars will be presenting, Professor Todd Presner from UCLA, Dr. Christine Schmidt from the Weiner Holocaust Library in London, and Professor John Barrett from Fordham Law School. The 2027 Seminar will be limited to 22 participants. Completed applications are due Friday, October 30, 2026. The participant fee is $450. A shared hotel room for Friday and Saturday nights is included in the participant fee. If you want a single room, the additional cost is $160 per night. 2027 SUMMER INSTITUTE FOR TEACHERS – June 26 – 30, 2027

The 2027 Summer Institute for Teachers (SIT) will be held June 26 – 30, 2027, and will be held at the Hilton Newark Airport. Announcement of the 2027 SIT program will be emailed to centers later this fall. It is suggested that centers begin identifying their nominees for the 2027 program.

JFR POSTER SET ON RESCUE

A number of Lerner Fellow have requested copies of the JFR Poster Set on Rescue. Unfortunately, the JFR’s Poster Set on Rescue has been out-of-print for several years. We are considering issuing an updated Poster Set on Rescue and we are looking for Lerner Fellows to help update the Poster Set. We will meet via Zoom. If you are interested, please let Stanlee know by emailing her at sstahl@jfr.org.
