September 2025 - Notes from Rescuers

Wanda H., Poland

Wanda is 102 years old! Wanda's granddaughter wrote:

Dear Stanlee,

Grandma Wanda was unfortunately ill on her birthday. She often (every few days) has delusions, and then talks to people who aren't there and sees things that aren't there. It's terrible. Yesterday she bathed and even applied cream to her own feet! Days like yesterday aren't common, unfortunately. I'm sending you a photo of Grandma from today.

Thank you for everything.

Agnieszka

Sending you greetings and photos from Ramute.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Aleksandra turned 104 in April. Annually we require that each rescuer provide proof-of-life by submitting a notarized form.  We helped move her to a village to keep her away from the bombing and it is too difficult for her to go to a notary to have her affidavit notarized. She is holding the paper so we can see the date. She is holding the watermelon to show us what she bought with our funds. Getting funds into Ukraine is challenging, but we are doing it.

I don't even know how to thank you for the care and attention you have shown my mother, Aleksandra. I was only able to arrive in Vinnytsia today and see your message.

I am sitting by my mother's side and hardly leave her. She has already weakened considerably and, evidently, will not last long. But as long as she is alive, it is my sonly duty to care for her.

I received your message about sending a photograph of my mother with a newspaper showing its print date. I will be sure to do this upon arrival at my mother's village.

For now, I am unable to write anything positive. Every day there are air raid sirens and funerals for those killed on the front. But people have already gotten used to it and are living their lives. Evidently, everyone has their own fate.

Once again, thank you very much for the care and attention for my mother.

With respect,
Evgeniy
