JFR DELEGATION TO THE 80TH COMMEMORATION OF THE LIBERATION OF AUSCHWITZ
The JFR is attending the 80th commemoration of the liberation of Auschwitz. The group is being led by Dr. Steven Field, JFR’s Board Chairman and President, and includes Ms. Kimberly Coombs, JFR Alfred Lerner Fellow (2021), Stan Steinreich, JFR friend and long time supporter, and Stanlee Stahl, JFR Executive Vice President. Roman Kent, who passed away in May 2021, was the JFR’s former president and Auschwitz survivor. Roman spoke at the 70th anniversary commemoration of the liberation of Auschwitz. Here is a link to a short except from Mr. Kent’s remarks. Roman had hoped to be at the 80th anniversary commemoration. The JFR delegation is attending the commemoration in Roman’s honor.
CHRISTMAS AWARDS SENT TO RESCUERS
In December 2024, the JFR sent more than $450,000 to rescuers in 10 countries. This amount included a special Christmas gift of $3,900 for the purchase of food, home heating fuel, and medications. This is the largest individual Christmas gift the JFR has sent to rescuers. Here is a link to thank you notes from rescuers. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are able to make a difference in the day-to-day lives of the rescuers.
JFR HAS 4-STAR RATING FROM CHARITY NAVIGATOR
We have received a number of calls from folks who are unable to find the JFR on Charity Navigator – we are there with a 4-star rating! You can find us under Jewish and not “The.” Should you be interested, here is a link to our page on Charity Navigator.
RESCUER SUPPORT PROGRAM
The JFR Board of Trustees voted to increase monthly award levels for JFR-supported rescuers. Each rescuer will be receiving an additional $100 USD each month. Monthly awards will now be $500 for each rescuer. As the rescuers age, their needs become more acute. The JFR is working hard to meet these needs.
As we welcome a new year, we thought it appropriate to take some time to provide information on how our rescuer support program works. Many have asked when and how we send our funds to rescuers.
